I've always been intrigued by the great, and ancient, philosophers. I used to want to be one in fact.
Agora tells the story of Hypatia (Weisz) the *female* philosopher, teacher, and scientist in about 300 AD.
The movie is very well done. I think it portrayed life for Hypatia very well. It does come across as a bit anti-Christian, but Hypatia was a professed atheist, so if it's going to "accurately" portray her life, then it probably should.
Agora is incredibly well done. It is very well made. I really enjoyed it. And, it really made me think. There are plenty of things to think about as / after watching Agora.
If you have any interest in science, Egypt, Rome (Roman occupied Egypt), women's rights, faith, and treating your neighbor as yourself, you should see this movie.
