The Housekeeper and the Professor was highly recommended to me. And, with good reason.
The person who suggested I read it is a math whiz, and probably even does math problems just for fun. But for me, there are few things I dislike more than math.
One thing thing that is at least just as bad, if not worse, is baseball. Baseball has to be the most boring sport of the face of the earth.
So, a book that entirely based on math and baseball is not my cup of tea.
That being said, the writing is absolutely amazing. I actually wanted to keep reading, even though I despised the two major themes.
The writing and the story itself were just amazing. Thank you Michelle for the great recommendation. I read the whole thing in a single day. I don't remember the last time I did that.
Root's mother is the housekeeper for a professor with a memory problem. His memory only lasts for 80 minutes. The Professor gives Root his nickname, because his head is shaped like the square root sign. An unusual friendship and bond forms between them, and together they experience the joys of life (math and baseball apparently).

Yeah, it does have a lot of math, doesn't it. Glad you mostly liked it, though!
