I really enjoyed The True Deceiver. And yet I didn't at the same time.
At first I wasn't even sure I was going to read it at all. I read the back cover, and didn't really care to read it. But, then I finished all the other books I was reading before I had time to go to the library to get more, so I decided to read it after all.
Originally written in Swedish, by someone from Finland. It gives me a bit of a taste for what Finland must be like in the winter.
Can you imagine? No cars. No sun. Just snow. For three months.
This is a story about Katry, Mats, and the rabbit house. Katry is a young woman who is determined to give her brother Mats his heart's biggest desire. The only challenge is, she has no money to do it with.
Never one to let something like that stop her, Katry finds a way to earn some money and help the townspeople out at the same time. Or does she?
Looking back I really like the fact that any one of the characters could be considered to be the true deceiver, because all of them are. That's the best part of the whole book right there.

You read Tove Jansson before I did? Argh! I've been meaning to get to The Summer Book for years!
