Before reading "The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society", I didn't know it was a book comprised of letters back and forth between different characters.
In fact, even when I was half way through, I thought that the letters might stop. But they didn't.
It's been a long time since I've read a book written in this style. I must say that it absolutely worked for "The Gurnsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society".
It's amazing how characters can develop and opinions can be formed indirectly through letters from one person to another, and just recounting events rather than "experiencing" them.
I really enjoyed reading this book. By reading it, I learned a bit about the British occupation during WWII.
I highly recommend that you read this book. It's short, light, fun, entertaining, and downright enjoyable.
The only challenge I had with it is that I was just reading along, and then suddenly I turned the "page" (I read on a Kindle), and it was done. I thought that the ending could have been a bit better.
Oh well, can't have everything.
