Nicholas Nickleby
2002
Starring: Charlie Hunnam, Christopher Plummer, Anne Hathaway, and Jamie Bell
Rating: 3.5
Nicholas Nickleby is based on the novel by Charles Dickens. It is the story of a family's who's father dies, leaving them with virtually nothing. Fortunately, they have a rich uncle, and they apply to him in order to find employment.
Nicholas is first sent to a school for boys where he witnesses terrible things, but he also meets his best friend. Kate is placed as a dress maker's apprecentice. It is not Kate's profession that causes her much trouble. It is her uncle, Ralph Nickleby (Christopher Plummer).
Nicholas Nickleby is an ok movie. It was a bit longer than it needed to be I felt. The acting was good, except for Christopher Plummer who was amazing. There was some character development. I just didn't enjoy it very much. It was ok. Of course I recommend this movie - especially if you're a fan of Charles Dickens. I can't highly recommend it unfortunately.

I guess I mostly didn't like it because I'm not such a huge fan of Charles Dickens. But I'm sure it's a good version, and I'm very happy that you like it!
