"Beneath a Marble Sky"

I read this book way back in February. How I have not reviewed it yet, I have no idea. My sisters and I read this together as the first book for our "sisters-only book club" (which is really just an excuse for us to get together). We read a book and get together to discuss it (and see each other) every-other month, since we live close to each other, but far enough away that it takes some planning and at least 3 days to see each other.
I really enjoyed "Beneath a Marble Sky", and I think you will too. It tells about the events leading up to, and during, the building of the Taj Mahal in India. I've always been fascinated by travel, and the Taj Mahal specifically, so I really enjoyed reading this fictional account for how it was built.
I also really liked how strong the main character was. She's female and was by far the strongest character in the book (both in terms of development and character). Jahanara, daughter of the Shah, talks about the love her parents had for each other, and what that was able to do for their lives, and the lives of their people. Jahanara's quest is to honor that love both through the building of the Taj Mahal and in her own life as well as she searches for a similar love.
I definitely think you should read this book. It will make you want to journey to India, appreciate the effort that goes into building both the Taj Mahal and a love of your own. Pick it up today.
