"The Book Thief" is honestly one of the best books I've read in a long time. I was completely engrossed in "The Book Thief" from the very beginning. At first, I was a bit daunted by the fact that the book is 550 pages. But I read the entire book is 6 days (and I'm a slow reader).
"The Book Thief" tells the story of a young girl who grows up in a foster home outside of Munich, Germany during World War II.
I'm hesitant to say much more about "The Book Thief", because I don't want to spoil any part of it. But, I highly highly recommend that you pick up "The Book Thief" as soon as you can.

Hey, from Sarah, the 9 a.m. flavored coffee lady (until I was able to quit my awful job).
I agree that this book is great -- and one of the best I've read in a very long time. I thought I knew a lot about Nazi Germany, but I'd never considered how a German child might have perceived that time period. Definitely a new perspective -- and a clever narration method.

Outside of the abrupt ending, I REALLY liked this book. The descriptions of Nazi Germany, and interweaving the life of a little girl into it made for really great reading.
I also LOVED that the story was told by "death," a unique decision on the part of Marcus Zusak which lended itself to all sorts of great scenes and perspectives throughout the story.
