The Secret Life of Bees is a book I knew nothing about when I started reading it. I thought it would make a good book club book. It probably would, but The Secret Life of Bees is definitely more of the adolescent discussion than adult.

I still really enjoyed reading The Secret Life of Bees. I loved all the imagry with the bees and how they were modeled in the characters themselves. There is also good character development in the novel, and Sue Monk Kidd does a wonderful job of portraying South Carolina right after the Civil Rights Act was signed. The Secret Life of Bees is a great book for learning about that period in history.

The Secret Life of Bees is a fun read, and I highly recommend that all teenagers read it (adults too of course).
