The only thing wrong with "The School of Essential Ingredients" was that I thought it could have been longer. I would have loved to see a bit more about each of the characters in the story. I was very sad when the book was over.
"The School of Essential Ingredients", which is Bauermeister's first novel, follows the lives of a chef and her group of eight students taking a cooking class from her. Each chapter is devoted to one of the students. It is amazing how Bauermeister was able to see inside so many different individuals and create them so realistically. Each character was developed and alive. And surely, any reader could relate to at least one of them.
I highly recommend that you pick up "The School of Essential Ingredients" and begin reading it today. It was a fabulous book, and like I said, I'm only sorry that it's over. You will definitely come away inspired. For what? That's up to you.
