Why did I give "Adrift in Manhattan" two ratings? Well, it gets a 5 because it is honestly one of the best character-based movies I've ever seen (Character-based drama focuses on the character itself as an interesting construction.) And "Adrift in Manhattan" gets a 3 because I didn't really like it that much - particularly the ending, and I won't watch it again, which is really too bad.

"Adrift in Manhattan" shows us the lives of three individuals as they intersect. It is so character-driven that the main conflicts and events in the film actually happen before the movie takes place. All of the actors are absolutely amazing. It is so refreshing to see Heather Graham explore her horizons and play a different type of character. And the way Dominic Chianese plays his role is so very heart- warming and -wrenching all at the same time. And Dominic Chianese says so much with so few words.

I absolutely recommend that you watch "Adrift in Manhattan" for the experience of it. Watch it and keep an open mind. Take in all the characters, and imagine what their lives are like. But, don't say that I didn't warn you...we're left wondering plenty of things that went unresolved.
