Lust, Caution
Directed by: Ang Lee
Rating: 2.5
"Lust, Caution" is an espionage thriller set in WWII-era Shanghai, in which a young woman, Wang Jiazhi, gets swept up in a dangerous game of emotional intrigue with a powerful political figure, Mr. Yee.
"Lust, Caution" is a foreign film, so bear in mind that it has different "rules" than American films. There are some very graphic and disturbing scenes of a sexual nature that made it difficult to watch at times. So, I didn't really care for that.
"Lust, Caution" offered a view of life in WWII Shanghai that was unknown to me before. So, I do feel as if I learned something while watching "Lust, Caution". However, I do not know how accurate this portrayal is.
I didn't know much about "Lust, Caution" before watching it. I knew that it was directed by Ang Lee, and that captured my interest. While I enjoyed "Lust, Caution", I don't believe that I would watch it again. And I can't whole-heartedly recommend it to everyone because of the graphic nature of it.
