The Ultimate Gift is based on the novel by Jim Stovall. While I have not read the book, I wished I would have before seeing the movie. That is why the movie The Ultimate Gift did not get an above average rating. The movie required some buy-in, or else expected that you had read the book first.

They talk about twelve gifts. However, we are only told of five, even though Jason Stevens learned all twelve in the movie. All twelve gifts were not explained until the end of the movie during the credits. There were also a few lines and scenes that didn't quite make sense, but probably would have if we'd read the book first.

The Ultimate Gift is a nice movie, with an excellent message. So, I am not discouraging anyone from seeing it. But maybe check out the book first.
