At first I was really disappointed that the first book I spent money on for my Kindle was narrated by a character I didn't like - Darcy from "Something Borrowed". I knew that "Something Blue" was the sequel to "Something Borrowed", but I didn't expect Darcy to be the narrator. But, it actually worked out well.
As I read "Something Borrowed", I wondered what Darcy's perspective on the whole thing was. A lot of that came out in "Something Blue". What I didn't get from this book, however, was Dex and Rachel's perspective on the happenings of Darcy, nor the ending to their story. Sure it was briefly mentioned, but it wasn't the focus by any means whatsoever.
As I read on, I grew to like Darcy a bit better. I will admit, though, that I never grew to actually "like" her the way that I "liked" Rachel. But, I no longer hated Darcy. She was still so shallow that I couldn't stand it. Most of the way through the book she preaches how much she's changing and becoming a better person...but she just isn't.
I also found this book to be way more predictable than its predecessor. Predictability isn't always a bad thing, but it's rarely a great thing. And that's how I felt about this book.
Again, I needed that lighthearted read, so I can't consider this a masterpiece by any means, but I did still enjoy it. And enjoyment is half the fun of reading.
