I have heard good things about this movie from a few people. It was recommended a few times, so I finally checked it out. I don't really know what I'm missing, but I did not care this movie. I felt that it was about an hour too long, and that it could have been explored at a deeper level that what it was. Yes, it is an intense film, and going a level deeper may have been difficult, but if would have helped me better understand the conditions of live for the characters. Maybe there was something going on in the world when the film came out that made those who watched it then identify with it and really like the movie. I don't know. Maybe you can tell me what I'm missing if you liked it. The acting was good, but I didn't think the writing was. It was fun seeing Christian Bale and Ben Stiller in the movie. I definitely wasn't expecting to see them in it. So that was good.
After we watched the movie, we promptly put our copy into the Good Will box for donation.
But if you want to check it out, you can get Empire of the Sun at Amazon.
