Nanny McPhee movie review
2005
Starring: Nanny McPhee starring: Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, and Thomas Sangster
Rating: 4.5
When I first heard about Nanny McPhee (when it came out in 2005), I had no desire to see it. I thought it was just a complete plot rip off of Mary Poppins. So, to be completely honest, I avoided watching it.
I'm sorry I did. It was a great movie, and I wish I'd have watched it sooner.
Written by Emma Thompson, the screenplay is perfect. It's funny where it should be, serious when it needs to be, and balanced with an incredible set. (The costumes and scenes are absolutely fantastic.)
Nanny McPhee follows the story of the Brown children. Children who are motherless, and their father does not really have the capability (or desire?) to control them. Therefore, they are very naughty. After the seven children have ran out every nanny in town, Nanny McPhee shows up. She has ways of controlling the children that no one else has.
I highly recommend that you see Nanny McPhee - especially if you are (or ever were) naughty.
