We all remember the movie Schindler's List that came out years ago, but did you know that it was actually a book first? "Schindler's Ark" by Thomas Keneally is the original title, and it was eventually changed to "Schindler's List" (which is, in my opinion a better name anyway).
Well, I read the book, and I really enjoyed it. At first though, I thought it read a bit like a text-book, so it took me four days to get through the introduction and first chapter (which are really short actually). But, then in the next night I read the next four chapters. So, even though it still seemed a bit like a text book, it hooked me.
I really recommend that you read Schindler's List, or Schindler's Ark, whichever title you choose - the contents are exactly the same after all. Even if you have seen the movie, the book brings to light the dangers that were involved for everyone, Oskar Schindler especially. It also shows how he went about shaving the lives of over 1,000 Jewish people.
I learned so much from reading this book. I've always been fascinated by WWII history (who hasn't?), especially the German side and those Germans who defied the system and risked their own lives to help the lives of others.
If you have any hope for humanity, or just want to be reinforced that there are truly good people in the world, then pick up a copy of "Schindler's List" today.
